We buy utes and vans

Cash4Cars buys double-cab and single-cab utes and vans of every size, from tradies upgrading their work vehicle to families who no longer need the people mover. Popular utes include the Toyota Hilux, Ford Ranger, Nissan Navara, Mitsubishi Triton, Isuzu D-Max and Volkswagen Amarok. Popular vans include the Toyota Hiace, Ford Transit, Nissan NV350 Caravan, Hyundai Staria Load and iLoad, Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and Volkswagen Transporter.

The same guidelines apply as for every vehicle we buy: a 2010 or newer model in good, drivable condition, generally under 150,000 km and worth $8,000 or more. We don't buy crashed, written-off, non-running or heavily modified vehicles. Utes and vans often work harder than cars, so if yours is a little over the kilometres but well serviced, send it through and we'll tell you straight away.

What affects the price of a used ute or van?

  • Kilometres and service history. A full service record matters even more on a work vehicle. Have the service book or invoices handy.
  • Two-wheel or four-wheel drive. 4WD utes are in strong demand in Auckland, but tidy 2WD utes and vans sell well too.
  • The tray, deck or cargo area. We look at the tray liner, deck or load floor, tie-down points and any dents from loading.
  • Accessories and fit-outs. Towbars, canopies, tonneau covers, roof racks, nudge bars and van shelving can add value. Tell us what's fitted and include photos.
  • Road user charges. Diesel utes and vans pay road user charges (RUC). We check the RUC licence against the odometer and tell you up front if it needs topping up before the sale.
  • Signwriting. We buy signwritten vehicles. Let us know about any signwriting or wraps when you send your photos.

Getting your ute or van ready to sell

  1. Take photos of all four sides, the tray or cargo area, the cab interior, and the dash showing the kilometres.
  2. Add close-ups of any dents, scratches or wear, plus the tyres and the service book. Honest photos keep your offer firm.
  3. Find all the keys, and any keys for canopies, toolboxes or locking tonneau covers.
  4. If there's finance owing, have your lender's name and loan number handy. We pay it out on the day. See selling a car with finance owing.
  5. Empty the tray, cab and any toolboxes before we collect.

Selling a ute or van through your business

Selling a work vehicle that belongs to your company, or several at once? We buy from sole traders, tradies and businesses of every size, and we pay into your company account. If your business is GST registered, tell us when you send the vehicle through so we can set the paperwork up correctly. For three or more vehicles, our fleet defleeting service prices every vehicle on your list individually and collects from your depot.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Do you buy utes with high kilometres?

Our guideline is under 150,000 km, but utes and vans with a full service history can still be worth buying above that. Send the details through and we will tell you straight away whether we are the right buyer.

Do you buy vans with shelving or a fit-out?

Yes. Send photos of the shelving, racking or fit-out and we will price it into your offer. Tell us if you would rather keep any of it.

Do you buy signwritten utes and vans?

Yes. Let us know about any signwriting or wraps when you send your photos, and we will take it into account in your offer.

Can my business sell its ute or van to you?

Yes. We buy from sole traders and companies and pay into your business account. If you are GST registered, tell us up front so the paperwork is set up correctly. For several vehicles, use our fleet defleeting service.

Do you buy 2WD utes?

Yes. We buy both 2WD and 4WD utes, as long as they meet our year, kilometre and value guidelines and are in good, drivable condition.
